And that electricity goes...

There's a GE commercial boasting that some 25% of your electricity usage is wasted by appliances that are switched off, but left plugged in. The example noted in the commercial is a toaster. Okay. If your appliance is off, and it still makes some kind of light, or heat, or sound, then I'll concede that it's sucking at least a bit of juice. But a toaster? The last time I checked, electricity doesn't dissolve into the air, and I've never seen a toaster with a standby light, so I'm not sure what they're suggesting is happening to the juice. Am I the only one here that's not retarded? Why can huge company like GE air a commercial claiming something, with no mention of research, nothing! GRRRRR. I'll try to dig up some research, and update if I can find anything...

Macbook Baby!

Hells yeah. Got my Blackbook, 1Gb RAM (stock, don't worry, it'll grow soon), 160Gb HDD, 2.2GHz C2D, Santa Rosa (!!!), GMA x3100, blah, you know. It's freakin fast. Jeah. Decided against the Pro, correctly, I think. MB's smaller, a bit more comfy. We'll see, but I don't think I'll be disappointed. I'm so happy.

My new MBP will be expensive...

This is ri-damn-diculous. Macbook Pro. Glossy or matte. Seriously. I can't decide. I mean, I CANNOT decide. Period. A web search does nothing but collect dozens upon dozens of forum strings full of viscous arguments. That, and the same information over and over: glossy looks nice, great color & contrast, but lots of annoying reflections; matte looks okay, not as sharp or colorful, but no reflection problem. That's it. No more hard info. Just opinions. And yes, I've been to an Apple store to look at both side-by-side. I keep finding myself leaning toward glossy, then I read some scathing rip about the horrible glare that will give you headaches for life and kill your firstborn. On the other hand, matte has horrible, dull color and is garbage. I know glossy can't be that bad, but doesn't it seem like it must be pretty bad to make these people speak against it so strongly? We're talking 2500 smackers here. Crap. Ideas? (that I haven't heard?)...
